My recommendation to see the Hobbit comes with a cautionary note, as the movie is very violent. That said, I enjoyed every single one of the 169 minutes and I am now eagerly awaiting the sequel. This is the first of three Hobbit movies, which are a prequel--of sorts--to the Lord of the Rings films. Those three films were masterfully created by Peter Jackson, and he again takes the reigns here. I found the Hobbit to be more humorous and no less exciting than his other three films. The dwarves are loads of fun, and Gollum is especially funny. The score is memorable, as are some fun songs. This is a great movie for families with older children.
