With a ton of moving parts — from plot to characters to all the pieces flying across the screen — "The Lego Movie" met just about every expectation our family had. The movie (plus two big tubs of popcorn) kept all of our kids (ages 22 months to 9 years) engaged for the most part. My kids loved how random and frenzied all the elements were. Adults will appreciate the dialogue and pop-culture references, which create a few laugh-out-loud moments. The conclusion provides an unexpected twist and a relatable theme, tying up the film nicely — though perhaps a bit too tidy. This film is both smart and playful, nostalgic and current. Well worth a family's time.
