Racecar Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) and his tow-truck buddy, Mater (Larry the Cable Guy), have had their share of adventures together but nothing like what they experience when they head overseas for the first-ever World Grand Prix. A sequel - not quite as good as the first one - the plot is pretty weak on this one.

Much like the first one, I wasn't entertained as much as I was with other Pixar films. I have a feeling this one will grow on me, much like the first. Ironically I found the Toys short film at the beginning funnier than anything in Cars 2. Despite this the movie is very entertaining, the plot is solid and it was a smart move to put all the focus on Mater. I give this a low PG rating for a couple reasons. There is quite a bit of car violence and explosions. On top of this there are at least two instances of showing cars actually dying. This brings up questions of: where do cars go when they die? Also, you are introduced to a new Indy style car. When they go to Italy there is an exchange between the Mother and this car. This begs the question, How are cars reproduced if they have parents? Not saying my kids ask these kinds of adult questions, but the potential is there. For these things the movie is definitely a PG movie.

This movie lacks magic, depth, and originality. The kids loved it but it's a total snooze fest for grown ups.

This was a disappointing movie compared to the first one. My five year old wasn't engaged - more for adults. Animation was good but just a harder plot to follow.

So disappointing! I loved the original Cars - it's one of my favorite movies. I was so disappointed with Cars 2. There was a lot of action and cars getting blown up. I had my nieces with me, age 7 and 5 and there were some intense moments where they either ended up in my lap or they covered their eyes saying "I don't like this." It's just a bit too much I think, especially for kids.

Like most children's movies taken past their prime, this movie doesn't deliver. It can still be fun for your kids and is bare-able as a parent.

I liked this movie but definitely thought the theme was a bit mature for G. Low PG is a good rating due to the action packed spy theme.

Mater helps keep the movie innocent for children. I think this movie is probably fine for most kids 4 .

It's finally happened: Pixar's string of great films is offically over. That's all I can say.

Well yes but I don't think this movie should've been rated G because it had some bathroom jokes and wheel car chase scenes with machine guns and car bombs. I don't know why the movie rating people made it rated G. But I think that critics are ungrateful and picky with movies. The critics need to stop complaining about Mater being the star with Lightning Mcqueen.

This film takes the small town, country charm, slow down and enjoy life message of the first film and completely jettisons it along with most of the characters in favor of a spy movie staring Mater. This film is so different in content and theme from the original it boggles the mind. It also does not feel like a pixar film. It feels more like an average Dreamworks animation project, or even some lesser animation house. It has none of the heart that Pixar films usually have.
Having said all of that, I was not a huge fan of the original film, and enjoyed this one more than I thouht I would. There are at least half a dozen laught out loud moments in this film. How much you will enjoy it depends entirely on your ability to tolerate Mater. He was funny in the small doses we got of him in the first Cars film. There is a bit too much of him here. I cannot decide whether it is worth your time. It was probably worth mine, but only barely.
Killing cars the way they did in this film was a little serious for a G rated film, and my wife had a hard time following the espionage plot, let alone my small children.

Since this is a movie for kids, there is definitely too much violence in it. Cars (representing people) are being killed, threatened to be killed, shot at or even have a bomb planted on their body. That's not something I would like to watch with younger kids.

Secondly there is the political agenda. I'm an adult but even I felt being indoctrinated while watching the movie. Movies for kids should entertain and teach universal values not political agendas.

Lastly the plot is way too complicated for kids. The whole espionage story seems to be fabricated and will only be resolved at the very end of the movie. Children won't be able to follow through or understand it.

Though the 3D version of the movie is awesome on a technical level, it was not worth my time at all because of the violence, complicated story and the political indoctrination.

The action was fun, but the wreckage of cars was not to violent. I feel my younger children could watch it without having issues.

This doesn't rise to the level of "Up," "Finding Nemo" or "The Incredibles," but my 5-year-old son loved it, and it was fun to watch him watching it. Still, I hope Pixar's next effort is more up to its usual standards.

Disney needs to come to their senses. Must movies(like cars) are better off without sequels. They have made some of their biggest mistakes this way!

Great action movie. I found it fun to have cars act and be depicted in human ways. The action starts right off and doesn't stop until the end. You know the hero (which one is the hero?) will win, but you don't know how. As good or better than the first Cars and as good as Panda 2.

This movie has lots of action to capture your attention. It has a good friendship message but it has some violence so I wouldn't take kids younger than 3 or 4. As an adult I enjoyed it very much, very creative!

Action packed, but terrible character development. For the first time, I was disappointed with a Pixar movie. The new characters were not likeable, they were one dimensional and not well developed at all. An okay action movie, but not worth the money to see it in the theater. I'd wait for it to come out on DVD.
