This is obviously a work of great personal meaning to Estevez who wrote, directed, and produced it. It seems to be his way of trying to find some meaning in life. Sheen walks El Camino and bumps into other interesting characters, all walking The Way for different reasons. The film muses on life and death, family, smoking, writer’s block, forgiveness, and a few other things. It’s also pretty dull. There’s a lot of walking.

It has a wonderful pace, very similar to what they actors experience during their pilgrimage. There is great character development, wonderful scenery, and you find yourself caring about the people.
