ages 9+ | 64 % Say It's Worth Your Time

Long before meeting Shrek, Puss in Boots (Antonio Banderas) -- just named a hero for saving a woman from a charging bull -- is run out of town on suspicion of bank robbery, even though the real villain is Puss' friend, Humpty Dumpty (Zach Galifianakis). Though there is still animosity between them, Puss and Humpty reunite to steal a goose that lays golden eggs. Joining them for the adventure of nine lifetimes is notorious cat burglar, Kitty Softpaws (Salma Hayek).

Surprise plot mentally insulting. Great dancing. My 11, 9 and 8 year old thought it was the best movie ever. However, excellent movie making distracted my kids from thinking that lying and stealing for a good cause is wrong. The movie taught that itâ‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s ok for an egg to grossly betray the same cat twice and then do a big deed in the end to somehow make up for a life of deceit. That is too far of a mental leap for me. Sorry. Then my 3 kids were confused when I felt compelled to tell them why the premise of the movie was dark and not uplifting. Mine are expected to act better. Does anyone else agree? I have yet to read an audience review that gives anything but praise for this movie.

Not that funny, and it was kind of inappropriate for children.

Good family entertainment, mostly for older children. It's not the best story telling I've seen. But there are some good laughs and fun to be had in watching it.

I really liked this show. Very funny and good characters. The art direction is excellent (as you would expect) and overall I liked it better than Shrek (not a huge Shrek fan BTW). Parents should just be aware that this is an intense movie with stunts, fighting, danger, and some mildly inappropriate jokes that go over kids heads. I watched it with a 5-year-old and he was not scared during the show, and gave it an enthusiastic thumbs up.

It was kind of like the film-makers sat down and said, Well, we are never going to be able to make a full length film out of this, so we have to pad the story with a bunch of really long dance numbers set to Spanish guitar and throw in a bunch of really cute things that cats do! The story picks up toward the end, and there are a couple of funny moments, but not enough to justify watching the whole film. I rated it high PG because there are few things that are said or implied that are pretty sexual in nature, though I'm sure it will all go right over the heads of the youngsters.

Not up to the same comedic level as the first two Shrek films, Boots is still a fun family film with plenty of humor. The voice acting is well-done, but the whole thing was rather predictable and a bit slow-moving. I still recommend seeing it, and I'd give it 2 1/2 stars out of 4.

This film could have been terrible. Overall it was very enjoyable, humorous and gripping. Done in the tradition of the other Shrek films it is wildly funny and contains a deeper message about friendship, honor, and loyalty. Like the other Shrek films there is a certain amount of adult humor that will go right over your children's heads.

Okay, so I'm a huge fan of cats in general. Cat-freak is probably more like it, so I knew I'd love this movie. I just didn't know HOW much. This is one of those movies I could probably watch it over and over. All three of my children love it as well and they range in age from 6-10. I loved it and highly recommend it.

Although this isn't Dreamwork's best (which isn't really saying much)Puss in Boots had some genuine moments throughout. The action was impressive and creative and the back story (though cliche) was intriguing. But in all honesty, you could go without seeing this movie and be just fine.

The movie was good, although not as funny as the previous Shrek movies. I must say Humpty Dumpty is a little disturbing:) I always look for good messages and this one certainly has a message of friendship and loyalty to friends and family. The voices are phenomenal, although the story is slow at times. Good movie, but not worth spending the money on 3D or anything like that.

I really enjoyed this movie. The plot was unexpected and enjoyable. The main characters had amazing background stories that seem very well thought out. There were a few brief instances where it was sexually inappropriate for younger children, but other then that I loved it.
