It is unfortunate that less people see the qualities of Snow White and the Huntsman. With the influx of superhero movies, I felt this film was refreshing. It still had some fanciful effects and action, but I was not overwhelmed by constant smashing and little to no dialogue.
Snow White and the Huntsman had an outstanding performance by Ravenna the witch and Snow White seemed to play well off her strengths. There was obviously a ton of detail in bringing the world of Snow White to life. I enjoyed the contrast between the sinister dark forest and the lands that were still untouched by the dark witch. Although character development was not perfect, the film is worth your time and does not bore you with predictable hollywood quips and wits. -
Classic fairy tale meets Lord of the Rings ... except that Snow White and the Huntsman forgot to put the two together with a good storyteller. Charlize Theron plays a strong and well done character as the wicked queen, but everyone else - especially Snow White - is weak and suffers even more from a weak script. I would definitely wait for Redbox/Netflix/etc and even then this movie is only 50/50.
While the movie never crosses into "R" territory, it is dark and hints strongly at adult-type themes, including sexuality and drug use. This one is for teens and older only. -
Another movie that could have been great, but just kept falling short. The Evil Queen did an amazing job and draws you into the movie. However, Snow white falls shorts and lacks character depth. I would have loved to see her grow and become a strong character in this movie.
The visual effects are wonderful and I enjoy the artistic moments in the movie. Although some are very unrealistic (almost comical).
I felt like the plot jumped around and never came together neatly at the end. Too many directions, too many lose pieces.
Again sadly disappointed by the lack of a love interest. There is a hint of it, but nothing more. What happen to ending the battle scene with good kiss? -
This is a good adaptation of a fairy tale. It's no Lord of the Rings, but the photography was stunning and the performances were good. Kristen Stewart's personality is a bit flat, but she was convincing in her role as Snow White and overall is likeable. There were a couple of scenes that felt out of place and a bit too fantastical. Charlize Theron was amazing as always, and Chris Hemsworth was able to make up for any deficiency in personality from Kristen Stewart.
This is a very violent movie - lots of fighting and killing. It was not at all gory, however. There is very little blood and extra care was taken to keep the violence at fairy-tale levels, not realistic levels. There are a couple of shots of Charlize Theron's bare back, and a creepy scene where a villian touches an imprisoned Snow White in a creepy sexual and unwanted way. -
It was too long and slow. I liked it, but won't buy the DVD when it comes out.

The movie is fairly good aside from anytime when Kristen Stewart speaks. Luckily she has very limited lines in this movie.

Probably some of the worst acting I've seen in a while. The plot and development of characters doesn't cut it for me and the only thing this film brings is Thor and Bella to the screen. I wouldn't even rent this movie or suggest anyone to watch it.

Let down. It wasn't as good as I was expecting.

I have never been a fan of fairy tales and this movie makes me not appreciate them even more. There are some good action scenes and special effects throughout the movie that will keep you entertained . I honestly thought Charlize Theron did a great job playing Queen Ravenna and the only role that could be appreciated in the movie. I am sure girls liked this movies because the majority of the women loves fairy tales. It's definitely a new take in comparison to the old fairy tale story and movies. I think they are doing this more and more in now days.

...works so hard to transform a quintessential girl story into a girl-and-guy story that it's like three movies in one... clangy medieval epic, full of random woodland monsters and battles, and it begins to lose the pulse of its fairy-tale mystique. It's like watching Clash of the Titans IV: Revenge of the Blood Apple... Read full review here

Fantastic, even if a little unexplored.

Visually very cool film to see but found the overall story a bit flat. I would see it once.

In spite of the title, the star of this movie is really Charlize Theron's evil queen Ravenna. The scenery-chewing villain is not only fun to watch, but also surprisingly sympathetic. If only Snow White herself were half as interesting. The dark tone and several scenes of violence make this a little too intense for younger audiences.

Not your Disney cartoon. More like the flashbacks in ABC's "Once Upon A Time" series, but far more violent and intense. Very entertaining, but pay close attention to the caveats for parents.

Somewhat Epic story that features Kristen Stewart doing something other than pouting about her vampire boyfriend. Charlize Theron does a great job as the Evil Queen.

Interesting retelling. Part of me didn't want to like it because I'm not a fan of Kristen Stewart, and she wasn't great, but the rest of the cast and the story made up for her deficiencies. I loved the dwarfs.

Very fun movie, not for small kids, even those I heard crying in the theater. Great cinematography. Obviously set up for sequels.

Although I don't think Kristen Stewart can act, she actually did well in this movie. The story was good, though dark, and I thought overall the action, story, acting, etc. were good. I was entertained, and actually came away more impressed with Stewart than I thought I would be. I was, however, severely disappointed that the dwarves didn't sing "Heigh Ho"! :-)

Charlize Theron makes this movie. Everyone else is miscast. Very dark with a few odd Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe sequences. And the ending is odd.

Very action packed, entertaining, but a bit dark. Other reviewers are right, Charleze Theron had the best performance. The story was different than I expected. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.
Worth a Redbox, nothing more.September 20th, 2012 Details -
I've always loved me some good action, and that's pretty much what this is: a fast-moving plot with a lot of mostly bloodless fighting (think "Lord of the Rings") and minimal romance. The only disappointment I had in this film was in the seven dwarfs, who don't play near as big a role as I thought they should.

I thought this was a great movie. It's an interesting twist to the story of Snow White.

This is an interesting take on the Snow White story. Charlize Theron does a great job being a wicked, evil witch, and Kristen Stewart does a sufficient job as a lost, pretty girl. I wouldn't say she does a stellar job of acting, I mean, she didn't inspire me to follow her into battle, but she gets the job done. It's a decent movie, see it at least once. It's a mom-dad after the kids go to bed show.

This movie had some great moments (mostly Charlize Theron), but other weak moments that felt like it wasn't tied together well. It felt like there was a lack of direction on what the movie was suppose to be like. The fantasy elements felt thrown in without thought. I'm not a fan of Kristen Stewart, however her weak part isn't all her fault. I don't know why writers keep forgetting to develop her character. You can definitely wait until Netflix/RedBox to see this movie, but you'll definitely want to watch it at least once for Charlize's performance.

I recently watched this movie and I was thoroughly impressed. It's a really good and clean version of Snow White.

This movie suffers from has been come to known as "The Brothers Grimm"-itis. It's a terribly interesting and captivating potential for a plot, but it's a swing and a wide miss. Instead of an interesting plot, they just chuck in lots of special effects and hope you don't notice the complete lack of a plot advancement, character development, and the complete plot-line oversights. I can't say this is worth the two hours, let alone the fee of admission.

I liked the story though at times the story line was a little dark. For those who are into fantasy it is a good movie. But gotta love Chris Hemsworth

... jaw droppingly beautiful shots, almost tactile in their richness, and uses special effects to enhance that look,.. It's better than "Mirror Mirror,"... With its sumptuous look and its revisionist take, it has its moments. You just wish it had more of them... Read the full review here

The "Fairest One of All" morphs into a butt-kicking warrior princess... Rupert Sanders colors the classic good-vs.-evil fable with splashes of gothic horror and extreme violence, which make this rather grim (no pun intended)... an entertaining romp with a strong sense of right and wrong. Parents should be warned that the film's dark tone and excessive bloodshed could be nightmare-inducing for the younger set... Read full review here

It was a little scary. The queen was. The dwarfs were funny. And it ended pretty good. I really like the cinematography.

My name is Kristen Stewart and I have only one emotion. Charlize Theron is uber creepy as the wicked witch in this film. She does a good job. Other than that, there are several plot holes and I felt like the film tried to force all the elements of the Snow White story into it. Other elements of it just didn't make sense to me. There is mild profanity, but it gets its PG13 rating from violence and warfare as well as some creepy images courtesy of Theron.

I loved this movie -- except for the casting of Snow White. Stewart was AWFUL. Whereas on the other spectrum, Charlize Theron was amazing. She was gorgeous yet so evil at the same time. I really liked the music in this film (Breath of Life is one of my new favorite songs). It would have been infinitely better if they casted anyone but Stewart, but for what it is, it was pretty good.
