Take Independence Day, then subtract a good cast. Now add Pearl Harbor with its Hawaiian setting and forced love story. Then mix in small doses of the ridiculous plots of Armageddon and 2012, and you've got yourself the movie Battleship. Wasn't worth my time.September 14th, 2012 · Details
My son Trevin saw this movie and wanted to offer his thoughts. He liked the story and said it was easy to follow. He liked the battle scenes and overall action. He liked the acting. The only thing he would change is the physical appearance of the aliens. What he didn't like was the profanity. "Too much swearing," he said.November 19th, 2013 · Details
This is a pretty mediocre film but does has some funny, and quite entertaining parts in it. There are some holes in the plot and storyline that bothered me but then again, helped to minimize the violence. For example: The aliens don't attack or kill the humans unless threatened, which was great to reduce unnecessary violence, but at the same time, didn't make sense. After all, didn't the aliens come to the earth so they could consume it and overrun it? Why then, would they be hesitant to kill a human being even if not threatened? The entertainment aspect was fun but that's about all you can ask for in this one. You've seen the story with different actors in several other movies. Overall, it's one more movie that portrays the aliens as bigger, stronger, faster, more intelligent and advanced than humans. Yet, somehow, the humans expose one flaw that leads the the aliens demise. I felt like I was watching Signs mixed with Independence Day but not as good as either.February 20th, 2013 · Details
Battleship. Ironically I didn't realize how it was based off the board game until someone else mentioned it. The show is pretty entertaining in terms of naval combat, and actually I thought started really well with some pretty funny material. However as it went on it felt like it was kind of thrown together, but again a fun movie. In hindsight, I'd personally probably wait until it comes out on red box than see it with a group of friends. And Rihanna was kind of annoying. For what to be concerned about, the violence features a lot of explosions and a few ships go down indicating crew members dying but besides some camera shaking there is nothing too disturbing although it contributes to the dramatic effect. There are a couple fights between individuals and an alien gets a couple teeth knocked out but it made me think more of a cartoon than physical brutality. There is some drinking at the beginning, but practically no drug use following that. The main girl wears some slightly low cut dresses and kisses the main character in a bikini while he's lying on the beach but the sexuality isn't really a concern after that scene. There was a few strong curse words, probably around a dozen throughout the whole movies and I think one f-bomb was in there. Fun, fairly clean, but don't expect any academy awards, or an amazing plot.May 22nd, 2012 · Details
This is one of the WORST movies ever made. I really couldn't understand why someone would recommend this movie, unless it was some sick joke.May 29th, 2012 · Details
Don't expect this movie to be like Transformers, come to think of it in some ways it is like Transformers. There are aliens that come to earth seeking a new world in order to survive, the only difference is the aliens don't get to stay! I liked how it showed us that even the old things can still be just as effective as our newer advancements, assuming you don't mind putting three times as much work into getting the same task done. I also thought there were some good action scenes and that this movie is defiantly worth watching!April 19th, 2013 · Details
Some people may have thought that Battleship was going to be off the charts with Rhianna in it, but I still enjoyed every minute of this board game turned action flick. I watched it last night after I left my office at DISH, and I couldn‚Äôt believe how much fun it was to watch. I would have watched it sooner, but my boyfriend said he couldn‚Äôt find a copy anywhere around town. I told him not to worry about it since I have Blockbuster @Home through DISH. With them, I have over 15,000 titles to choose from to get by mail. So no matter what I am looking for I never have to depend on luck to find a good film like he does at the Redbox.March 1st, 2013 · Details
Much better than I thought it would be. Nice tribute to Pearl Harbor veterans at the end! I think it's totally worth your time.December 22nd, 2012 · Details
Great movie. I really like the main actor. He also played in John Carter, which was another great movie. He's even better in this one however. No "F" words but lots of swearing. Not out of context, but too much to take your kids younger than 13. This movie didn't do well at the box office. I credit that to really bad marketing. Bad previews. They didn't capture my kids interest. The previews left me wondering how they can make an entire alien invasion movie centered around battleships and the navy? It was a great story however and cool how they did just that. I will buy this movie when it comes to DVD. Great story, great action, great aliens and effects, great characters, humorous, etc. Loved how they honored the military so much and gave tribute to the vets. You really should see this movie if you like aliens and action.August 8th, 2012 · Details
Definitely was not impressed with this movie. I've sat through many long movies, but this was one that brought on complete boredom. Also, story line would be pretty complex for anyone under 13 or so.June 22nd, 2012 · Details
Battleship, has a very good plot. The invaders are a little to much. I thought that the American and Japanese forces pull you into the plot when the work together to overcome the Aliens.
