Avengers is a terrific show. There is minimal language, no sexual content, and it has a surprisingly decent story line for a comic book movie.
Then there is the action and violence. While there is a fair amount of fighting that takes place between the main characters and also the enemies in the movie there is minimal gore. Many of the characters have slight cuts during the fighting but nothing repulsive occurs.
There is one incident from the movie that I felt was slightly unsettling when a device is stabbed/planted onto a character's eye and though nothing is explicitly shown, the character is screaming for a few moments. (You would have seen about the same or worse in Lord of the Rings, but I would not recommend children under 10 going)
Besides that, the show is very enjoyable, and a great balance between action, suspense, humor, and resolution. Well worth your time.

When an aircraft carrier transformed into a gigantic aircraft I had made up my mind to rate this thumbs down. But by the end of the movie I went for thumbs up for one reason - the visual effects in this movie are stunning. I struggle with comic book movies because the plots, dialogue, and characters are all complete cliches. I do not regret watching The Avengers, however, because the action sequences (especially at the end) are absolutely jaw dropping. If you like comics, this one surely delivers.

There are 2 "A" words that I remember and some scary and intense scenes that younger children should probably not be watching. Tons of fighting of course.

One of the best comic book movies ever made. It had some of the smartest dialogue of any Marvel movie yet. The actors all seem like they are having fun and wanting to deliver the most entertaining movie they can and they do.

From the moment the movie started I knew it was going to be an epic experience. The incredible action and stunning graphical effects combined with the sci-fi and superhero storyline created an experience that, for me, lived up to all the hype surrounding the film's release.

There is, of course, plenty of violence amid the action and some gore that would be expected in a storyline involving battles between great forces of good and evil. I don't recall much profanity from the movie, though there were many great an humorous lines from the likes of Robert Downy Jr., Chris Evans, as well as the rest of the cast.

Besides being full of great spectacle, "The Avengers" is also a character driven movie. Joss Whedon does an excellent job balancing time between the various plot lines, and the collision of so many "hero" personalities provides some laugh-out-loud moments throughout the movie. It feels like the actors are having fun and the audience will as well. Definitely worth your time!

Though the writing is clever and the characters enjoyable (who doesn't love a super-hero film), I can't back this film completely. The studios get away with throwing a lot of violence at us by putting a superhero on the marquee.
It was, however, a lot of fun to see so many supers together. Ironman was snarky and fun as usual, but I liked Captain America more so because he just so good and decent! I just wish they didn't make it so violent. Watch the original X-Men movie and see the difference.

Wonderful movie, definitely the best one of 2012. If you love Marvel Comics, like I do, The Avengers will surprise you with plenty of action, intelligent dialogues and very good sense of humor. Hardly a comic-based movie will ever be that good, unless is The Avenger 2: The Age of Ultron. Can't wait for it!

This movie seems like it would be a great children's movie. I would say this is even the best movie of the year. You get to experience Captain America, The Hulk, Thor, and Iron man all in the same movie, what more could you want? The only thing I could think of for why this movie would be rated PG-13 would be for the awesome battle scenes and battle happens in real life so if this movie could be rated 13 for that then we are living in an X rated world!

There is some great humor between the characters and some great funny moments, but it is full of action and gets your heart pounding. This movie is a great one and is in my collection. I recommend this to anyone, just not the kiddo's. over 13 I think would be ok.

If I had to tweet a review I'd say this: Marvel's finest heroes provide eye dilating action, ab strengthening humor, and a solid story that fuse together smoothly for a classic.

It's a fun movie but definitely not for kids under 13. It's almost difficult to pinpoint who your favorite character is because all of them do a great job.

I'd strongly recommend going into the movie prepared; having seen Iron Man and Iron Man 2, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, and Captain America. If you've seen those, it'll be a better experience for you.

I'll buy this one for sure.

Bad news first: this film has no story. Not a shred. And Hulk’s character doesn’t make sense. He acts one way in one part of the film and a completely different way at the end. And there’s no explanation for it. Those are the only flaws in an otherwise excellent summer blockbuster. Turns out, you don’t really have to have a story when the interchange between your characters is so dang good. Joss Whedon is a good director and a phenomenal writer. The dialogue he writes is so good! The best part of this film was just listening to the characters talk to each other! There’s also some great action and a ton of humor. It’s just so much fun to see all these superheroes on the screen together. I liked it significantly more than any of the films with these characters in them that preceded it. Oh, and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner? He’s awesome! Way better than the other guys. And Hulk is my favorite part of this film, despite the aforementioned inconsistency.

It's PG-13 for superhero violence, which is bloodless. I didn't notice much language and there is no sexual content.

The Avengers is one of the better super hero movies. It has great jokes through out the movie, that will keep you laughing. It is also filled with action, with the last battle scene dragging on a bit. The one thing this movie was missing was a solid love story to go with the save the world battle.

visually stunning movie. The narrative stitched together by writers and the director turned out to be far more compelling than I originally thought it would be. I was somewhat disappointed by the Asgard character's performances. Loki wasn't nearly as dynamic as he was in Thor. Both he and Thor felt more one dimensional. I also felt the Hulk should have been played up more. Despite these flaws the movie is a wildly fun romp. Humor was great. Musical score was Neh, alright. The PG-13 rating is deserved. Tons of mostly bloodless comic style violence. Worth seeing at least once.

You are sure to have a fun night at the movies with the Avengers. I did not consider myself a fan of the characters, though I did enjoy Thor, but I liked every single one of them in this movie. The pace of the movie is great; it is exciting the whole time.
The script was funny, and the acting was great. There is obviously a significant amount of violence that merits the PG-13 rating. There is also minimal language. But overall this is a very enjoyable film.

When Thor's evil brother Loki comes to Earth, he steals an energy cube called a Tesseract to open a portal to a different dimension so another alien race can invade. He also takes control of several people to help him in this endeavor, including Hawkeye.
When the Avengers — including Thor, Ironman, The Hulk and Captain America, Black Widow — are brought together to help figure out a way to save Earth, they start fighting, arguing and goading each other. Each is a superhero and has worked alone successfully (or in The Hulk's case, so he doesn't hurt others). Working together proves to be much more difficult than expected, especially when Loki does his best to split them up.
Once they figure out how to use their strengths to benefit their mission to save Earth along with cooperating, this group of superheroes just might be able to thwart Loki's plans.
And just one more note: The only Marvel comics show I saw before this was "Captain America." It would be helpful to know at least some of the background, but if you haven't seen any of the other shows, you wouldn't be completely lost.
There is a lot of violence and the PG-13 rating it definitely warranted.

It was a 60/40 type of movie. I liked the action sequences, and the cast is perfect matching, but the biggest problem with this movie was the comedy. WAY too much comedy. True, this movie lives up to its hype, but more action and less comedy would've helped this movie fit in with "The Hunger Games". I am proud of this movie, however, for being in the Top 250 on IMDb. I also hope it wins some Oscars along with "The Hunger Games".

The Avengers is exactly what you would expect from a superhero movie: lots of action, occasional funny quips between characters, and the good guys win after an epic battle with evil. I found myself thoroughly entertained and left the movie with a smile.

There is little to no sex in the movie and no profanity. As The Avengers is an action film, there is plenty of violence, though none of it is gory. I would recommend that young children not see the movie, but tweens and teens should be fine.
