Bernie
Assistant funeral director Bernie Tiede (Jack Black) is one of the most-beloved residents in the small Texas town of Carthage. Sunday-school teacher, choir member and creator of spectacular funerals, Bernie is a friend to everyone, including Marjorie Nugent (Shirley MacLaine), a rich but nasty widow whom no one else likes. Jack Black is amazing in this movie. This movie really makes you think about how far someone can be pushed until they get to breaking point. It also shows that even the nicest of people have breaking points.
By no means am I alluding that we have a killer inside of us. What I am saying, is that the movie makes you consciously think about not putting yourself in situations that will eventually make you snap and make a decision on anger or frustration rather than proper reasoning.
The mix between the real townspeople, the cast, the humor, etc. made the movie very fun. It's sad that it's based on true events. Bernie seemed like a great guy who made a terrible decision based on letting his frustration take over. -
Loved this movie

Great Dark Comedy - Jack Black does an amazing job. I would say this isn't for kids because of the dark humor but nothing of a sexual nature or blood.

Bernie is a very new take and role that Jack Black plays . If you are used to the funny and entertaining comedies of Jack Black you will hate this movie. This is a very dramatic movie that tells us the story of Bernie Tiede ,a Texan that focused on helping citizens of his hometown . I recommend this movies if you like dramas and documentaries .

"Bernie" is a true-life crime story in which the crime itself takes a backseat to the people who tell us about it...It's an odd mix, and a fascinating one...a dead-solid-perfect depiction of small-town life... Read full review here

Bernie is a very interesting movie! Based on a true story and filmed in a documentary format, it is very well done. Jack Black is amazing as Bernie, displaying his many talents. I would say it is primarily a comedy a bit on the subtle side but there are some serious bits too.
There is some language, including 1 instant of the F word which comes as a surprise. There are no sexual scenes other than talk of someone wearing revealing underwear and someone else being a closet Homosexual. There is little violence, primarily some gunshots. There is one scene with blood where it shows a car accident involving teenagers but you quickly realize all is not what it seems. Check it out if you can - it is surprisingly enjoyable.April 19th, 2013 Details -
This is a bit of an odd movie. Good but odd. Filmed as a documentary.

I started Bernie thinking that I wasn't going to enjoy it, but when I found out that it was all based in a true story I was absolutely glued to it. It was funny and lovable and absolutely startling all at the same time. The acting was incredible and Jack Black needs a little more recognition than he got for this one.
