Saw this in theaters and was very impressed. This is a movie that focuses on story and acting and because of that you love (and hate) the characters. It is rated R but there is not explicit nudity and below average swearing for a R rated movie.
If this is playing in your area I would suggest going to see it. -
Few descriptions of "Safety Not Guaranteed" will do it justice. It's a more ambitious and touching movie than seems possible, given its starting point, which is this classified ad in an alternative newspaper... "Safety Not Guaranteed" not only has dialogue that's about something, but characters who have some depth and dimension... Read full review here

There's a noble tradition in movies of folks who are gently off their rockers — characters who invite the audience to fall in love with their cuddly-cracked ''innocence.'' ... Safety Not Guaranteed is a fable of ''redemption,'' and it's too tidy by half, but it is also very sweetly told... Read full review here

Saw this at Sundance earlier this year. It is not a 4-star movie, as some reviewers would have you believe. But it is definitely better than most movies out there.

A breezy, beautiful film about people crazy enough to believe in something, "Safety Not Guaranteed" is a film that rests on the shoulders of its cast, and thankfully so.
R rated mostly for language and sexual dialogue, but an easy PG-13 if it weren't for use of the f-word.January 8th, 2013 Details -
It's equally endearing as a sweetly funny romance between two likable oddballs and as a low-tech time-travel thriller, and has something profound to say about making the most of the present. A low-budget independent film that enthralls just as powerfully as any long-awaited blockbuster, it could well become a cult classic... a fresh, funny, multilayered, character-driven story about hope, regret, overcoming fear and the redemption that comes from human connection... It's worth seeing this inspired tale to find out... Read full review here

...crazy in the best possible way, with the acting and the real heart overcoming the occasionally trying-too-hard indie quirks that might have lessened its impact. "Safety Not Guaranteed" is a charming movie that blends comedy, romance and science fiction... You never know what the future holds -- or the past. "Safety Not Guaranteed" is a winning journey in both directions... Read full review here

...this is an indie romantic comedy with a kernel of mystery at its core. "Charming" and "sweet" are two words that can be applied to this movie... The film is enjoyable in large part because it's not like anything else out there... most viewers will become engrossed in the central mystery to a surprising degree... it's more about the simple conceit of two people connecting - something everyone can relate to...
