This story is predictable and is nothing new - the classic story of a rag-tag group of misfits who are led to victory by a dynamic personality. But... it works. It works really well, mostly because it rides the coat tails of the highly successful and imaginative "Monsters Inc."

As a prequel, it was fun to see how this movie related to "Monsters Inc." The jokes were spot-on funny, and the university environment was a cool backdrop for this story that was different enough from the scare factory to feel like it was something new, and not just a re-hash of what was done 10 years ago.

I highly recommend this movie for families. Pixar knows how to engage all demographics simultaneously and is refreshingly able to avoid rude humor while still delivering top-notch entertainment. Kudos once again to Pixar.

I adored Monsters University and would be willing to argue it was one of the best prequels I have seen, and it's a kid movie. Of course the storyline was predictable but their ability to tie in so many moments and stories from the first movie was masterful. The college backdrop and new monsters gave the movie a fresh new feel and I giggled all the way through...maybe more than my son.

Just as good as the first, if not better! My 2 year old lost interest, but my 5 year old and all my other kids loved it. A great family movie for all to enjoy!

Pixar, legendary for its creativity and innovation, doesn't disappoint. Just watching the intricate detail and subtleties on the screen is a joy. It's easy to start taking the incredible effects and animation for granted. And, not being a huge fan of 3-D, I didn't mind it here; it actually was a positive addition to the experience... I really enjoyed watching this movie with my kids. It teaches a great lesson of team work and perseverance. It might be a little bit scary for little ones younger than three. Overall is a great movie!!!!

My wife and I were impressed! Usually prequels and sequels tank, especially when trying to follow such a successful movie to begin with. It was clever, hilarious, and very kid-appropriate. It IS a monster movie though, so depending on how your kids handled Monsters Inc. and the idea of monsters in their closet, could determine if they could handle this one-even though the emphasis of the movie is on college where they learn to scare and live a watered-down "traditional" college life, instead of the actual scaring of real children. Will definitely own this someday.

Filled with humor, this show is unique enough from the first that it will bring smiles and laughs to all ages. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and found nothing that wouldn't be safe for young kids in it. Well done Pixar and Disney!!!

I adored this movie. It's just plain FUNNY. It has twists and turns you might not expect, but Pixar brings it home as they usually do.

You'll fall in love with the "brudders" of Oozma Kappa. You'll root for the underdogs, and laugh like a little kid.

    Absolutely hilarious. Go see it!

While I did get a little bored as it follows the typical story line of learning to work together, it was still an enjoyable movie. I appreciate some of the lessons you can take away such as "You have to work for what you want," "Don't give up just because the first way didn't work out," "You can't judge a book by its cover," "Even people you may not like at first meeting can end up being great friends." Great talking points for after the movie. Your kids will laugh and you will too.You will probably appreciate all the little things that tie this movie into the 1st one. I wouldn't spring for the 3D as its not like a whole lot jumps out at you but thats me.

When I heard that Pixar was coming out with a prequel to Monsters Inc. I was apprehensive. I loved Monsters Inc. and found it to be one of the most original films (family oriented or otherwise) I'd seen in many years. Plus, the film ended on such a positive note that seemed to make any prequel unnecessary and even regressing. But, I was very pleased with this film. My two year old daughter adores it while it had me laughing throughout much of it. I especially enjoyed the Scare Games challenge where they weren't supposed to scare teenagers--"but, Daddy! I love him!"

A fun prequel to the original Monsters Inc. Don't look for any deep meaning in the story. I couldn't find any. You already know where it's going. And it's a bit "cliché" in some ways. But we laughed out loud in a few spots. It's still worth watching.

You can say it is predictable, but only in the sense that the good guy wins. It is a fun movie for all ages. Great for kids, but still humor adults can enjoy if they do not take life too serious.

Having been highly entertained by the first movie, we decided we'd make it out to see Monster's University with my youngest sister-in-law shortly after its release. Needless to say, we weren't disappointed.

Lots of great jokes that had the adults cracking up, enough stimulation for essentially any kid to sit in amazement . . . Really, its a must for anyone with kids!

I was entertained by this movie. I think the first movie was more endearing but seeing the backstory when you know what happened later makes some thing more funny. There are some little twists that might give you an enjoyable surprise. Be ready to laugh and know that there are just a few parts where very little kids might get a little frightened. It depends on the kid, but they should still enjoy it.

Monsters University is another Pixar success: fun, up beat, and perfect for families everywhere. Unlike many movies today where heroes lie, cheat and steal to win, MU reminds us that we all make mistakes, that hard consequences are a real fact of life, and that we can all arise above those mistakes to find success and make our lifelong dreams come true.

This was a fun movie. It's animated for kids, but there were a lot of subtle jokes that adults might be able to relate to from the old college days. I thought there were several good lessons portrayed about chasing your dreams, being honest and the value of hard work. There were also themes of friendship and loyalty. The movie was pleasantly entertaining. Good family flick!

I am not a fan of prequels, but this one is different! It has an awesome story and shows you how Mike and Sully became the TOP Scarers at Monsters INC. When the two meet at college things aren't all Unicorns, theme songs, and rainbows. There is a lot of learning and messing up that the two must do to get a group of Unlikely "Scary" Monsters through the Scare Games. Lots of fun, great lessons to learn, and an awesome story.

This is a great prequel to Monsters Inc! I thought it was incredibly clever how they incorporated university life and band music into the film.
Don't let the college party scenes in the previews turn you of! Though those elements are portrayed, they're short and innocent.
Overall I think this is a great family film for both kids and parents.

Monsters University is a film that shows how Mike and Sully met. Mike wants to become a top scarer at the Monsters, Inc. plant, but despite all his efforts, he is not scary enough to join the elite Scare Team. Sully comes to the university already famous because his father was on the elite Scare Team. Can these two monsters put aside their difference in backgrounds to help each other succeed in reaching the Scare Floor? This had a good storyline to keep both adults and children entertained, but some of the college humor may be lost on some kids. Still, it was good, solid entertainment and wholesome enough for younger viewers.

I imagined the director and producers of Monster’s Inc sitting around a board room table, trying to come up with a plot for the next installment of the Pixar’s lovable monster flick. During the brainstorm, someone in the room must have said “Monsters scare you….Scare U” and the college template was framed for the newly released prequel.

How the one-eyed Mike Guzowski and furry “kitty” giant, James Sullivan (Sully), first met in college is a ragtag underdog story that includes party monsters in frat houses, a rousing alma mater fight song with spunky cheerleaders, jocks, boring Ferris Bueller professors, and inspiring competition between students who want to win the annual Scare Games. The campus is full of all the clichéd groups you ever saw during your undergrad years, complete with an emo Goth goul and dragon-winged, centipede-bodied dean who is easily the scariest monster in the entire school. You know you had a dean like that.

Randy Newman’s theme song gets you in the mood for some magical monster animation from beginning to end. And by the way, be sure to stick around at the end of the rolling credits for the final touch. I love it when movies reward their diehard fans who want just a little bit more.

The cast includes the exceptional voice talents of Billy Crystal, John Goodman, Steve Buscemi, Helen Mirren, Sean Hayes, Bonnie Hunt, and Jennifer Tilly. Mike and Sully are fleshed out with back-story details that leave us loving them even more. Can you say “Merchandising Jackpot!”?

One of my sons is currently an animation student in college, so I always love to hear his opinion on the artistry and CGI in films. He gave Monster’s University two big thumbs up and bows to Pixar’s talent and creativity. The film doesn’t rely on the fans’ love of the first movie; it introduces new characters you’ll fall in love with, as well as new dimensions to the Monsters’ world that are sure to create new areas in theme parks.

It’s an adorable movie that the entire family will enjoy.

Fans of the Monsters, Inc. movie will love this prequel to find out what Mike and Sulley had to endure to become the top scarers of their generation. There are younger versions of the characters from the older film, but there are plenty of new characters, too.
