Now that Gru (Steve Carell) has forsaken a life of crime to raise Margo, Agnes and Edith, he's trying to figure out how to provide for his new family. As he struggles with his responsibilities as a father, the Anti-Villain League -- an organization dedicated to fighting evil -- comes calling. I enjoyed, but wasn't a huge fan of, the first installment of this series and the second gives me similar feelings. It's "ok" and a fun one-time watch. There is some humor in the movie for both young and old and the content is safe and appropriate for young audiences. We were at the theater with a 3 year old, and some of the more intense/scary scenes were too much for her ... but a 6 year old could handle this movie without issue.
If you liked Despicable Me 1, you'll enjoy 2 as well. There is a larger role for the minions, which I thought was fun. As it is a kids movie, go in expecting a cartoon-shallow plot and story with laughs and antics throughout.

This caught the attention of even my 2 year old. It's a fun family movie all can enjoy. I liked it better than the first one!

Great sequel! Lots of clean humor, good story development. My eight year old liked it (but liked the first one better), my six year old loved this one. My wife laughed harder than any of us! Totally worth the time.

If you are a fan of the first Despicable Me, then the 2nd is certainly worth your time. Even if you haven't seen the first one, this show is filled with pure delight and humor. I say safe for 6 and above, simply because of two parts that may slightly scare young kids.

Despicable Me 2 is a kid-friendly, mother-approved movie for all ages. My 2 year old loved the movie and who couldn't with those adorable minions. My son has been running around saying "bottom" and "banana" for weeks now.

I have to admit that I enjoyed the first movie better but still had warm fuzzies about this sequel. If you have seen the first movie, I encourage you to check out.

This sequel was on par with the original, with good laughs all the way through. My kids LOVED the amount of screen time that the minions got, and Groo is in top form.

Not to get too uptight, but I wish movies like this would cut down on the potty jokes. For a week after watching this, I had to listen to my son go on and on about fart guns and naked minion bums, and it gets old. There was nothing horribly offensive, but enough potty humor and fighting to make me rate it 8+.

Just saw Despicable Me 2 with the family and I have to say it was a pleasant surprise. Gru and the Minions are back and just as funny, if not funnier than the first time around. I didn't think I'd like this one as much as the first but I'm glad to say that I was wrong.

Gru is now a full on family man, birthday parties and all. Even the minions are in the parental act as they help Gru raise his 3 daughters. Gru has turned in his life of crime and now uses his technology to make jam. That is short lived as a spy from the AVL (Anti Villian League) kidnaps Gru and offers him a new job to help stop evil in the world. A master villian has a syrum (PX-47) that he wants to release to the world and it's up to Gru to stop this from happening.

DM2 has great animation and has more laughs than the first DM movie. The Minions were in rare form as always but just like Pirates of the Caribbean, the first time you watch Johnny Depp do his Capt. Jack Sparrow you are blown away with how great it is. But when the second movie came along his character wasn't as funny because the magic was kinda gone (even though you still liked his character). This was like that, for me, with the minions. The way they talk and laugh and hit each other, etc was stuff we've seen from the first movie so the magic wasn't there as much. Don't get me wrong, I still really enjoyed the Minions!

There's a few slight twists in this movie that I won't spoil and at the end of the movie you'll want to stick through the first part of the credits as they give you a small glimps into what will be the next movie in this franchise.

Take your kids as they will love this movie. Even many adults were laughing and enjoying this movie. There's the typical fart jokes and they show a naked Minion from behind but it's all immature fun! There's really nothing in this movie that is bad for kids, except maybe a few scary scenes, for the really young kids watching, when the minions "change" (that's all I will say about that).

    3.5 out of 4 stars.

I thought this film was great for a sequel. I was surprised at how much I liked it, because although I enjoyed the first Despicable Me, I wasn't a huge fan. Some of the humor in it wasn't the best, for example when Gru is scanning the wig shop for the special serum using a scanner in his pants. Overall the show was great.

Lacks the charm of the original story, but more than worth you and your kids' time for the laughs alone. The minions are comedy gold.

Hilarious film! My four year old thought the mutated minions were really scary. He was begging me to take him out of the theater, but my six year old and ten year old thought it was great! My husband and I were laughing through the whole movie. Definitely worth seeing!

Wahoo! This movie got my movie-adverse kids into the theater! We saw the 3D version, which is always fun. I don't think my daughter was too thrilled with the dating plot lines, but it was a decent sequel. Both kids said they preferred the original. The minions have a larger role in this one, and it was nice to see Gru sticking to his goal to be good.

Even though this isn't live-action doesn't mean it's not scary. At the beginning, Gru is "kidnapped," and there are other scenes of peril. One of the minions shows his bare butt as he runs into the water.

Adorable. I thought the story was fun, but the minions stole the show. My kids loved it. There were only two parts that made me wonder "why did they have to have that in there?" A large man exposes his hair chest and a minion's butt is revealed as it prepares to go swimming. Some may think that showing the minion's posterior is cute, but it wasn't necessary in my opinion.

My favorite part of the entire movie was the chip hat filled with guacamole! Other than that, it falls short compared to the first film. The minions still make the movie worth seeing, but it's not one that I think is phenomenal.

Perhaps it will grow on me like Despicable Me did.

Overall, this was okay. I wasn't to happy with all the dating in the it, though I was happy that we saw more of the minions in it than the first movie.
