This is one of the best movies in the world. If you haven't seen it, you must. There's something in it for everyone--sword fights, romance, revenge, action, pirates, and humor.

This is one of those movies that you can watch over and over again. I grew up watching it, watch it all the time with my wife, and am looking forward to showing it to my kids when they get a little older.

One of the best fantasy comedies from the 80s. I'm not surprised at all that this became a cult classic. Tons of quotable quotes, great cast, funny plot. Even the romance is tastefully done.
The only downer I have for this is towards the end there is a some stabbing associated with a sword fight. One of the swordsman uses a strong expletive as he thrusts through the bad guy. This probably should have received a PG-13 for that one scene. This, with other scenes of violence would definitely put this into the PG-13 range. There is also a little adult banter that children would completely miss. This is a must-see if you grew up in the 80s.

One of the best movies I have ever seen! Fighting, fencing, monsters, true love! I used to show this as a reward to my students at the end of the school year. If they met all their reading goals we had a Princess Bride viewing party. I had to censor that one word at the end but they didn't notice or care! They all loved it! This one is timeless!

The Princess Bride is a classic tale of adventure and love that I have enjoyed since I was a young boy. High adventure, epic swords play, and a most memorable battle of wits, it is worth every minute of watching it. In my opinion it is safe for kids that are 8 and above due to some scary images for kids (R.O.U.S. and Buttercup's Nightmare) and violence (sword fights and wrestling mostly).

Quoted by Glenn Beck at least once a week. If you haven't seen this movie, you won't get half of the jokes told about love and life. My kids watched this over and over again when they were young. Good lessons, good fun. You should see it and own it. Pass it down to the grandchildren for generations to come.

The Princess Bride is a legend in the genre of family-friendly epic romance action movies. The story is good, the acting is great.

In terms of violence, there is blood, torture, burns and swordplay in this movie. The violent content is handled tastefully, however, and for me is not a large deterrent to seeing this film. In terms of profanity, there is only one memorable curse word. It is said as a man avenges his dead father by killing his father's murderer after many years of hunting this man down. There is no sexual overtone to this movie at all, yet the film is laced in romance and love. Indeed, 'True Love Conquers All' is the prevailing theme of the movie.

Having grown up with this movie, it's endearing to the heart and food for the soul - always brings a smile when I watch this with my family, and so happy that my kids seem to enjoy this as much as I did when I was their age. Has the additional perk of exceptional memorable one-liners.... "You killed my father - prepare to die!" for example :-)

It shows that you can make one amazing movie without throwing any garbage, sex, or language. The story line, cast, music and one terrific ending all make it truly one of the greatest all time classic movies. This movie should be part of every childhood!

The Princess Bride is an absolute classic, and it is great for children too. There are a few moments that may be scary for young children, but other than that, there really isn't anything inappropriate. The dialogue is quotable and witty, it has a great story, and a very memorable cast of characters. This movie has a high replay value and can be enjoyed again, and again, and again, and again...

This show is wonderfully brilliant! You'll be quoting it for years to come. "Marriage..."

I think this is a family classic and would be appropriate for 9+ . It's not to the PG-13 range but has some scenes that are a bit violent for young kids.

If you haven't seen this, you'd better get on it right away!

I loved this movie. I used to watch it all the time with my dad when I was a little girl. There was one scene in a swamp with a big rat thing that used to kind of scare me, but not bad enough to keep me from watching it again. Clean with plenty of quotes that you'll find yourself saying long after the movie is over.
