When the woodworker Geppetto (Christian Rub) sees a falling star, he wishes that the puppet he just finished, Pinocchio (Dickie Jones), could become a real boy. In the night, the Blue Fairy (Evelyn Venable) grants Geppetto's wish and asks Jiminy Cricket (Cliff Edwards) to serve as the wooden boy's conscience. But the naive and trusting Pinocchio falls into the clutches of the wicked Honest John (Walter Catlett), who leads him astray to the sinful Pleasure Island.

Parents need to know that this Disney classic handily passes the test of time for a beautiful and effective lesson on the perils of doing wrong when you know better. Some scenes and themes may be intense for younger or sensitive viewers, such as when Pinocchio is kidnapped and caged, threatened with destruction, can't find his father, and nearly drowns. They also should be aware that Pinocchio's friend Lampwick introduces him to cigar smoking but is punished for it. Kids may be disturbed by Pleasure Island, where "bad boys" are turned into donkeys and sent to work in salt mines. But overall this morality tale is a good reminder of the importance of listening to your conscience.

This has always been my least favorite Disney movie; it's very creepy and has a dark, eerie feel to it. There would be an explosion of controversy if Disney came out with this film in recent years because of the creepy characters and drug use.

Pinocchio is a charming little tale with a whale of a message: from our choices come consequences we can't control - good for good, and bad for bad. A great film for the whole family, and a beautiful classic Disney animated feature.

I have seen this movie before when I was a kid. My question is how did some bible words like Jack (donkey) get past the censorship? I remember when Donald Duck said the word Jack (donkey) in Don Donald before this movie was released. Also there was some scary parts like the boys turning into Jack (donkeys) including Lampwick. And there's also some animal cruelty involved and the peril scene with the big whale. I don't think this movie should've been rated G because of the word Jack (donkey) being used.

The story is a classic! One of Disney's best! The whale scene scared my little brother, and the kids turning into donkeys might be a little too freaky for kids, but it should be watched!

Meh. This movie is just okay. It won't change your life...and it's kind of creepy in retrospect.

Animation for it's time is decent. I say no to this movie for children for the following reasons: The main character constantly lies, he, with others smoke, and the movie is pretty violent for a G rated movie. The story is a weak one, with the main character preferring to become a real boy, when he was basically immortal as a wooden boy. Besides this Gipetto should have gone about becoming a father in a normal way. Wouldn't questions arise about the origins of this mysterious boy that appeared out of no where? Despite these plot holes, the story has a good message about doing what is right no matter the situation.
