I love this movie & I don't care for gore in my films but this movie needs the gore to work. The premise is fabulous, the acting superb, and who doesn't wish they were a superhero occasionally. Nicholas Cage is in fine form & the way he says "Child" to hit girl is so tender. It has lots of fantasy elements that teen boys wish were true, like the hot girl falling for the outcast boy so I'd say PG-13, especially if watched with a parent - some interesting discussions could happen about justice, crime, heroism, safe sex, etc. Looking forward to #2.
