An absolutely delightful movie! Definitely a good movie for small children. All of the characters are endearing, and it's cute, funny, and heartwarming. It's a great story about family.

My kids are actually willing to see Despicable Me 2 at the theater (I can't even remember the last time they saw a movie on the big screen!), so we watched the original. My oldest had seen parts of it in school but wanted to refresh her memory.

This was a movie we all enjoyed. I appreciated the humorous references for adults. I laughed out loud several times, and Gru's transformation was heartwarming. I wouldn't recommend this for younger kids, however, because he does start out as a villain who commits some, well, despicable acts. One scene shows what looks like a girl's (bloody) death, though the truth is quickly revealed.

This show is great! For kids it has plenty of silly humor, but for adults, there is enough to keep you entertained and grinning from ear to ear. It does take a few minutes to get into the show, but it is worth the watch. This is a flick that I own and watch regularly, and I don't even have kids.

It's entertaining with over-the-top cartoon caper. While Gru initially adopts the three orphan girls to get into his competitor's house, it's interesting to see their relationship develop. The little minions are cute, but there is a lot of humor that's a bit crude.

It's obvious that some of the creative team from Ice Age were also involved in this film. They're very much on the same level. Both have funny moments, not much story, and had potential to be much better films. That said, I did enjoy this one more than Ice Age.

The characters in this film were fun, and there were plenty of laugh-out-loud moments. The minions were okay, though there were a couple scenes with them that were definitely just for the kids (in one over-long scene three of them go to a toy store looking for a toy unicorn, and itâ‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s not funny, except probably for three year olds). The three little girls are wonderful. Gru is very entertaining and his transformation from bad guy to good dad is surprisingly sweet. All in all, it was fun, and would probably get better with repeated viewings.

After the hillarious previews for this film, though, I was hoping for something funnier. Don't expect the wit or comedic ubiquity that we got from Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs last year, but it's funnier than any other 2010 animation.

This is a great witty movie, with some absolutely adorable characters. However some scenes contain some mean behavior (from Gru) and so I would be aware of letting very young children see it. Or at least be ready to answer questions such as "why is he being so mean?!" :)

It's just your run of the mill animated movie. Kids will love it. I got sick of it. You can watch the trailer, see all the funny parts, and save yourself an hour.

The filmmakers are careful to give Gru a troubled past (he was never appreciated by his mother) and a heart that can be softened. But the Oscar-nominated movie (Best Animated Feature) is at its heartless best when Gru is snarky and semi-mean-spirited. Kids will love the rather playful evil minions. Adults will like most everything... See Full Review

I think this is a great movie. I had watched it before, but I watched it again to refresh my memory before I watched Despicable Me 2. I would have said that this was okay for kids 4 years old to watch, except that there were a couple scenes that they would be afraid of, like one time it makes you think someone is bleeding and so on.

I'll be honest, when I saw this movie for the first time I didn't think it was worth all the hype, but then I was outvoted and watched it for a second time and enjoyed it a lot more the second time around.
You'll most likely fall in love with the little yellow minions and of course the girls, especially the youngest one. And the unicorn song? Yeah, I can sing that now thanks to a roommate who loves this movie.

I loved this movie. There is a little bit of potty humor, but also a lot of humor that adults and kids alike appreciate. The message of the movie is good, too.

Despicable Me is one of my favorite animated shows, mostly because of how funny it is. It's basically a spoof of super villians, one of whom is old and seems to be on his way to becoming a has-been. Parents should just know that there are diabolical schemes to take over earth, and some potty humor. The main character is very grumpy and insulting, and at one point destroys an entire carnival game with a ray gun. There is a lot of destruction in the show in general.

This movie is fun for people of all ages. Steve Carell does a great job and so do the little girls in the film.

It is quite entertaining and I would recommend it to families. It's a good film to own.

The violence is not realistic and therefore appropriate for children.

A refreshing take on the animated kids movie. It boasts wonderful talent, an intelligent plot and script, and beautiful colors and animation. The soundtrack and score are also terrific, evoking varied themes such as Mancini and James Bond. Fun even through multiple viewings.
