When I saw this movie in theatres, I wasn't particularly impressed. A second viewing on Netflix led me to a more positive outlook on the movie. It's refreshing to have a hero that is, really, a hero. A selfless, good, hard-fighting, straight-up good guy.

The movie does have quite a bit of violence, but I did not notice profanity or sexual content. A fun watch and a well produced show.

Like "Thor," "Captain America: The First Avenger" deserves to be seen just because it plays such a crucial part in the overall Marvel Cinematic Universe. Also like "Thor," though, it's not quite the home run fans might've hoped for.

Thankfully -- and to my great surprise -- Chris Evans as Captain America is actually one of the best parts of the movie. Previously known for his snarky, smart aleck roles (like Johnny Storm in Fox's Fantastic Four movies), I was glad to see that he played the character as totally sincere and idealistic -- just the way Cap is supposed to be.

A lot of the rest of the cast, though, is kind of wasted. Who even remembers that Tommy Lee Jones is in it? And the Red Skull has to be one of the more forgettable Marvel villains, which is unfortunate, since in the comics he's Captain America's Joker.

Not a great first movie, but at least it succeeds in the most important parts (like the casting of Steve Rogers and the WWII setting for his origin story) and set the stage for better movies down the road.

Captain America Is Epic! He is my favorite avenger besides Hawkeye. This movie is fun and exciting. I love very moment of the movie and sure it can drag at times but it's a fun movie. Chris Evans plays a great classic hero. Chris really does a wonderful job of bringing the character to life. Out of all the avengers movies I highly recommend this movie. Plus Joe Johnson does a fantastic job directing!

I enjoyed watching a superhero movie about a superhero who was a genuine good guy. A lot of fighting and violence, and I felt it was a little long at times, but overall it is a quality movie.

What American can dislike a movie about Captain America? I wouldn't say its the greatest movie ever, but worth seeing at least once. A good, wholesome action film.

Movie has a good underlying message of good over evil and the benefit of being good. Lots of cheesy action shots and a good amount of violence.

Perhaps because I was expecting less quality and more violence, I really enjoyed this film. Let our 8-year-old join in, as part of a march toward Avengers.

I liked this movie, even though I'm not the biggest fan of the comic book genre. There isn't much objectionable for families, as long as the kids are old enough to handle the violence. I would not take pre-teens for that reason.

My 6 year old daughter loved this movie. I say enh, its worth a watch if you have nothing better to watch, and you have a really good sound system. Its not that the movie wasn’t good, it actually was given that they had to work with what is probably the lamest comic book character ever.

Great film! You'll understand more about the Avengers if you've seen this. It's fun and action packed. There are some parts that are clearly unrealistic but fun nonetheless.

It is nice to see a superhero film where the hero is such an upstanding, genuinely good person. Unfortunately, Captain America's goodness is also his only character trait. Chris Evans has great comedic timing as an actor, but he does not get to use that in this film. It feels more like a WWII movie than a superhero movie, which is a good thing. The character development here and plot are better than most superhero movies, though it does feel quite a bit longer than all the other pre-avengers films. It is not quite as fun as Iron Man or Thor, but it is much better than The Incredible Hulk or Iron Man 2.

It deserves the PG-13 rating for violence, but is not more violent than Iron man or Hulk.

This was not one of the better comic book films of the year (especially compared to Thor) but it was worth my time, especially as a fun escape. Ok for the bigger kids, but leave the little ones at home. The Red Scull is pretty scary.

All things considered, this was a pretty good movie. They could have destroyed this. I think marvel is really figuring out the formula fro good super hero movies. This diserves its PG-13 rating for violence. Other than this, really good film.

Fun super hero movie. They didn't ruin the character of Captain America like I was afraid they would. I'm hoping that after they make this Avenger movie that they send Capt America back in time and give us more movies that take place in his original time period.

Very well done with a great story line and good set up for the Avengers. Many said they were unhappy with the ending, but I liked it a lot. It's a very patriotic movie with a twist on World War II. Obviously there is violence but otherwise a clean movie.

Very well written, original, great fun, great casting and acting. Marvel does it again!
Chris Evans becomes the character he plays as Steve Rogers/Captain America incredibly well. Tommy Lee Jones is as great as ever with his hilarious sarcasm along with acting serious. Awesome storyline with a great mix of history and comic book mixture. Gets better and better as the movie goes and ends with a great ending. Much more a superhero than a vigilate. Will get you even more excited for the upcoming Avengers film next year.
