ages 5+ | 72 % Say It's Worth Your Time

In Stratford-Upon-Avon, birthplace of William Shakespeare, Miss Capulet and Mr. Montague feud over whose garden is the better. Garden gnomes that decorate each neighbor's flower beds continue the rivalry when the humans aren't looking, and gnomes from the Red Gardens don't get along with those of the Blue Gardens. Then Gnomeo (James McAvoy), a Blue, and Juliet (Emily Blunt), a Red, fall in love, leaving many obstacles to overcome.

Love this take of Romeo and Juliet. Great to watch with the whole family...even the little ones can understand that fighting is wrong and causing lots of problems. You'll laugh and hope for the two love interests to win in the end.

This movie was a lot better than I expected. (Especially since I hate the original Romeo and Juliet story.) It was cute and I'm sure little kids would love it.

Whoever gave the movie an R rating (Not Ok) must have hit the mouse button on accident or clearly misunderstand what the "Not Ok" rating is meant to be on this site (too mature and vile to recommend), because this movie is PG at the highest but I think it's G. I liked the show thought the overall message was good. It's an animated Romeo and Juliet as you could imagine by the name of the film. I wouldn't buy it but liked it enough to watch it with kids and watch it again.

In this take on the "Romeo and Juliet" story, it's the garden gnomes of neighboring feuding neighbors that are the central characters here. It's a cute spoof on Shakespeare's play (and he does get a cameo) as the Gnomeo tries to find a happily ever after for him and his Juliet.

Cute adaptation to Shakespear's original story. My kids loved it, and laughed through most of the movie. At the end, my oldest did not catch the tragedy aspect of the Romeo

Better than expected. It's not Pixar quality, but it won't make you want to gouge your eyes out or die of boredom if you're an adult taking your pre-teen out on a daddy-daughter date.
