The visuals in the movie were incredible and the process behind Caesar's (the main ape) development was intriguing. It was mature, especially when the apes start to revolt against the humans. I don't think this show would bother a lot of adults but it may bother some kids or teens. Overall, it's worth a watch and as previously alluded to, it's exciting and keeps you interested.

Surprisingly good movie, with some of the best CGI monkeys you can imagine. It's full of action and mayhem, but it's also thoughtful and made me care about both the people who will die and the monkeys who will take over the planet, I assume, in an upcoming sequel.

I was skeptical going in because I figured the apes rose up and killed people purposely. That sounded awful, but the movie is more about mistakes and misunderstandings. I don't believe apes or any animals are as important as people, and the movie doesn't try to make that point. The apes the movie portrays become people. I thought it was fascinating and fun.

Awesome movie! This is one of the few prequels that I've watched that got me excited about going back and watching the original movie(s) afterwards. Terrific visuals, clever plot, and very entertaining overall.

By far the best Planet of the Apes movie ever made. Pretty mesmerizing actually. I have seen it a number of times and really enjoyed it.

I am not a Planet of the Apes fan, but I loved this movie! I only watched this because my kids really wanted me to see it. This movie is full of heart. Great entertainment!

This movie should have been called "Planet of the movie ends just when it started getting good". Right when you're all "yeah this is gonna rock" BAM! Credits... However comparing animal movies its WAY better than that War Horse movie. On a positive note for War Horse, the horse had better acting skills than the entire cast of Act of Valor.

A genius scientist (James Franco, in one of his most implausible roles ever) creates a virus that magically and permanently alters the brain to make one smarter. It is developed in an attempt to cure Alzheimer's disease, and testing it on apes leads to their becoming as intelligent as humans overnight. Nearly everything about this film seemed unbelievable, but one of the most unbelievable things about it (and far more unbelievable than the idea of apes becoming smart like people) are the motivations of the main human characters. There were half a dozen times in this film when I expected characters to act one way, but then a character would do something completely unlike what you would expect that character, or even any sane human, to actually do. The monkeys were more believable characters. Speaking of them, they are computer animated and it shows. It is pretty decent computer animation, actually, but it still does not look real. These apes are not even as convincing as King Kong from seven years ago. You could give this one a miss and would not be missing anything.

This movie is so so long but keeps your attention the whole time. kinda makes you jump in a few places but not so scary for a teen. definitely to scary for a kid though.

I loved this series as a teenager and I have enjoyed the new versions. Lots of suspense and intrigue. I hope they continue making movies in this series. Not for young or smaller children but older teens and adults could watch this without being embarrassed.

It was pretty violent, but it had great special effects. I thought it was well-made and worth seeing for purely entertainment value.

Amazingly well done by the actors who played the apes. That's definitively worth an Academy Award. The story itself was not that good. Of course you connect emotionally with the apes. But after all they are animals - not more and not less. The plot tries to diminish this boundary. The movie falls short of being an R. Too many people get injured or even killed. If you wathc this movie as a aprent with your child you'll have to explain to him or her that there is a sharp boundary between humans and animals. Smaller children will definitely not be able to understand it. I wouldn't take youths younger than 13 or 14 to this movie.

This was SOOO dumb!! About the part that the apes are killing cops, and the audience is supposed to be cheering for them, is when I decided that this movie is typical Hollywood , "animals are better than humans" trash. What a waste of my guys night out (given to me by my wife and 3 kids).

The apes are well done and there is plenty of heart in the story and characters. I was completely satisfied and then some with this movie. I'm a fan of the original series, and this one does justice to what came before.

Great movie! I was pleasantly surprised at how well this film was done and how emotionally invested I was. I hope there will be the sequel to follow this. 4 out of 5.
