What is it: During the Battle of Britain, Miss Eglantine Price, a cunning witch-in-training, decides to use her supernatural powers to defeat the Nazi menace. She sets out to accomplish this task with the aid of three inventive children who have been evacuated from the London Blitz. Joined by Emelius Brown, the head of Miss Price's witchcraft training correspondence school, the crew uses an enchanted bed to travel into a fantasy land and foil encroaching German troops.
Why I should watch it: If you ever loved "Mary Poppins" this is a classic Disney movie you will love. Angela Lansbury is enchanting as she whisks the children off on unbelievable experiences. The combination of live-action and animation is always fun to watch, and the music is wonderful.
What's in it: "Bedknobs and Broomsticks" is rated G and is a family-friendly adventure for all ages.
Fun tidbit: The song The Beautiful Briny Sea was originally written for a sequence in Mary Poppins (1964) that was ultimately dropped.
What reviewers say: "I loved this as a kid! I forgot how boring the first half was! I got it for my kids and they could only handle about 30-40 minutes before they started crying and wanted to watch something else, they never made it to the animated part. I say skip the first half and if they like the second half, maybe THEN try and see if they will watch the first half. It might take a few tries..." -billynair
